Shunammite is a fragile object with walls only about 4–5 millimetres thick, making it surprisingly light and delicate despite being made from oak. The rim is intentionally uneven, following the original unbalanced and irregular piece of wood rather than imposing a perfect shape on it. Although newly made, the object carries a quiet sense of age and history.
