Sissi is an elegant hollow form shaped by the natural behaviour of the wood. A knot marks the place where a branch once grew, sending a dark wave of grain across the surface and pulling the opening into an irregular shape as the vessel dried. A small crack beside the opening was deliberately retained and secured with stitches. The varied shades across the vessel come entirely from the red oak itself; the whole piece is finished with tung oil.
